My 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, restored as a tribute to NASCAR legend Glenn ''Fireball'' Roberts.

I restored this car from a rather generic Galaxie 500 that had been stolen and set on fire, which burned out the interior and left traces of fire and smoke damage throughout. I wanted it to be more than a paint-and-decal replica. So, it features a period-correct 6-point roll cage, old factory steelies, and a host of other little period details.

I also had to fill 161 holes in the body after I removed all of the chrome.

The car is not cosmetically perfect and was never intended to be. It is a replica race car, not a replica show car. That doesn't mean I didn't care about its appearance, just that I didn't have to build a Concourse-quality car to convey the period effectively. It's not so much an award winner, but it is more a great conversation starter!
